KJ: App belongs to the govt

PETALING JAYA: MySejahtera remains the sole property of the Health Ministry, says Khairy Jamaluddin.

The Health Minister said the ministry has never sold the application to any private entity to manage public health services.

“The government has never made any payments to KPISOFT (M) Sdn Bhd that developed the application since March 27, 2020, until March 31 last year.

“The company offered the app to the government for a year without payment as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR),” he said in a statement.

Khairy was responding to the ownership status of the app that was raised by Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim recently.

“Since it was launched, the usage of MySejahtera has been through the software as a service (SaaS) approach to reduce the turnaround time required to develop a new software, following the need for a specialised system to manage the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.

The minister said the government agreed that the MySejahtera services be continued upon the expiration of the CSR period.

Khairy said the government continued to cooperate with the company to improve the MySejahtera functions until its present usage.

Khairy gave his assurance that data in the MySejahtera app is under the supervision of the ministry and that it would not be shared with any government agencies or private entities.

“In this matter, data in MySejahtera is subject to procedures set under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act, the Medical Act and international guidelines.

“Data transactions are uploaded to cloud server networks daily and can only be accessed for MySejahtera use only,” he added.

Khairy urged the public to continue using the MySejahtera app without hesitation as public data confidentiality is guaranteed and that the ministry would continue to ensure that the aspect is not compromised.
