SHAH ALAM: Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has declined to elaborate on the possibility of a political tie-up between Pakatan Harapan and Bersatu.
"Politics is fluid and challenging," the PKR vice-president said when asked if the coalition would welcome Bersatu, a former Pakatan component party, back into the fold following its rift with its partners in Perikatan Nasional.
Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had said the party would form a new coalition after suffering a string of heavy defeats in recent state elections.
Amirudin also intimated that the cooperation between Pakatan and Barisan Nasional would come to an end soon.
"It's like a marriage but we already know when it's going to end.
"You are already going to court to finalise the divorce and your spouse is bringing her scandal," he said, in an apparent reference to the Barisan-Perikatan cooperation during the Johor and Negri Sembilan state polls.
Amirudin, who is also PKR election director and Selangor Mentri Besar, said Pakatan's priority remained safeguarding the people's welfare.
"Malaysia has continued to prosper economically thanks to the stability that we have maintained thus far," he said after launching the Second Selangor Plan (RS-2) at Bangunan Dewan Selangor in Shah Alam on Friday (Aug 7).
Asked about reports that PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar had resigned from her party post, Amirudin dismissed the speculation, saying she remained the party's deputy president.
"The party has simply decided that she takes a rest while Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail takes over temporarily.
"The issue (of her resignation) was never discussed by the party as we were busy with the state polls," he said.
