Cops remain committed to ensuring safety, security and public order, says IGP in Police Day message

KUALA LUMPUR: The police will remain committed to ensuring security and public order, pledged Malaysia's top cop.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani, in his speech at the 215th Police Day celebration on Friday (March 25), said the entire force had renewed its oath of allegiance to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the nation, and pledged to ensure the safety of the people and the sovereignty of the country was preserved.

"In line with the requirements of the Police Act 1967, this police institution will continue to be committed to maintaining security and public order in the country.

"All Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) personnel will perform their duties professionally and continue to Strengthen Integrity in order to defend the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law," he said.

He added that by maintaining their theme "polis dan masyarakat berpisah tiada (no separation between police and the community)", all personnel were always ready to serve and stand firm under the banner of Sang Saka Biru to bear the responsibility and trust of preserving community safety and national peace.

Acryl Sani was addressing his personnel during the Police Day celebrations at the Police Training Centre here on Friday.

The situation here was unlike previous police day celebrations with police personnel maintaining strict Covid-19 standard operating procedure compliance throughout the event.

"With all the sacrifices, hard work and spilt blood of previous heroes, and for the sake of the peace enjoyed now, we will continue to fight and pass it on to the next generation of Sang Saka Biru.

"In an effort to strengthen the service delivery system of the police force, the government and the Home Ministry have approved the acquisition of assets and equipment in line with the latest technological advances in modern policing.

"For that, on behalf of the force, I express my highest appreciation to the government and Home Ministry who are very concerned about the needs of the police," he said.

Acryl Sani added that the government has also allocated significant funds for the welfare, comfort and well-being of personnel who served as well as their families and police retirees.

"The police also wish to express its readiness to provide whatever assistance is needed, in order to support government policies and efforts in maintaining the welfare of the community.

"To all personnel, I am truly proud of you as national heroes who are the mainstay of the Force's strength in maintaining the safety, peace and well-being of the community and the country from various forms of criminal threats, to the challenge of health crises and natural disasters," he said.
