Malaysia has the option to set aside Paris court's US$14.92bil for Sulu heirs

KOTA KINABALU: Malaysia has the option to set aside the French arbitration court decision to award heirs of the defunct Sulu Sultanate to pay US$14.92bil (RM62.6bil) following the breach of the 1879 land lease agreement.

Sabah Law Society president Roger Chin said that as Malaysia was a member of the New York Convention, it was obliged to enforce the award but has the option of making an application to set the award aside in France, where the award was rendered.
