MELAKA: Five people lost their savings totalling about RM84,000 when fraudsters misused a photograph of a millionaire Datuk Seri to lure them into investing in a fictitious fund.
“The picture of the Datuk Seri, who is also the husband of a celebrity, was used by the conmen who claimed that even the VIP had confidence in placing his money in the trust fund,” said Melaka Commercial Crime Chief Supt E. Sundra Rajan.
