KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Family Sales campaign is able to ease the financial burden of consumers amid the Covid-19 pandemic, especially ahead of the upcoming Thaipusam and Chinese New Year festivities, says Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin (pic).
The Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister said the Malaysian Family Sales campaign conducted at Aeon Big Ampang offering a discount of up to 30% since Friday (Jan 14), has enabled consumers to purchase basic necessities at a cheaper price.
The Ampang MP also hoped that the locals would take this opportunity to grab the items which are being sold at lower prices than the usual market price.
“I hope Malaysians will take advantage of this campaign and it will definitely ease their financial burden and they will get value for money.
"Previously, if they brought RM100, they may get only 10 items, but coming here (to the campaign), they may get 15 items," she told the media after surveying the price of essential goods at Aeon Big Ampang here on Sunday (Jan 16).
She added that Aeon Big is one of the supermarkets that has a wide network throughout the country and thus, the discounts offered can be enjoyed by all Malaysians.
"Aeon is actually very accessible, allowing low-income Malaysians to enjoy the sales with this lucrative discount," she said.
Zuraida also said that the Malaysian Family Sales campaign was an initiative that was very close to the pulse of the people, especially after the floods and pandemic.
"We really appreciate the initiative of the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry in coming up with this campaign.
"We also thank Aeon Big as they are willing to welcome this programme and all traders involved who are willing to lower the prices so that everyone can benefit," she added.
