PM Anwar congratulates Malaysian contingent on nine-gold haul at Asian Games


KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today congratulated the Malaysian contingent on winning nine gold medals at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in Japan.

In a Facebook post, Anwar said the achievement matched the country’s best-ever haul at the Asian Games, recorded at the 2010 Guangzhou edition in China.

"Thank you for giving your best and making Malaysians proud. Continue moving forward with confidence and a high fighting spirit. May more successes await you in the next stages,” he said in the post.

Malaysia ended its campaign at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games today with nine gold, seven silver and 16 bronze medals.

The nine gold medals came from squash, karate, e-sports, sepak takraw and track cycling.- Bernama
