SHAH ALAM: The police here have deployed eight teams to ensure no break-ins occur within flooded areas, especially around Taman Sri Muda.
“Eight Op Cantas Banjir teams have been tasked, with four officers and 24 rank and file policemen.
“They are assisted by Bukit Aman, with 30 senior officers and 90 policemen who will be conducting 24-hour surveillance to ensure no break-ins occur.
“As of 6pm, no criminal activities have been detected in flooded areas, especially in Sri Muda,” said Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Baharudin Mat Taib in a statement on Thursday (Dec 23).
He added that 5,085 police reports linked to the floods have been lodged, an average of 467every day, on things like damaged items and cars.
“The death toll here remains at 14. No additional bodies have been found,” he said.
Twenty-one flood evacuation centres have been activated in Shah Alam as of Dec 18, with 3,794 people placed there.
“The situation in Shah Alam, especially in Taman Sri Muda, is improving with the main road fully open for all vehicles. However, the police will continue surveying the situation,” he said.
