PETALNG JAYA: Water supply in several areas in Selangor that was hit by an unscheduled cut has been restored by 17.7%, as at 7am on Tuesday (Dec 21).
Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) said areas in Petaling recorded 100% recovery rate, Hulu Langat (22%), and Kuala Lumpur (10%).
“The operations for Semenyih 2 WTP, Sg Langat WTP and Langat 2 WTP have fully commenced. For Cheras Batu 11 WTP, cleaning process and damage assessment following the flood incident is being implemented.
“The expected full operations time for Cheras Batu 11 WTP is yet to be confirmed at this time. It is crucial for Air Selangor to ensure that all equipment at the water treatment plant is in good condition and can be operated without endangering the safety of Air Selangor's onsite staff, especially those involving electricity,” it said in a statement on Tuesday.
It added that alternative assistance through water tankers will continue to be mobilised in stages to the affected areas, with priority given to critical premises during the unscheduled water supply disruption.
“Air Selangor is seeking the consumers' cooperation to practise social distancing and wear face masks while collecting the water supply from the water tankers,” it said.
On Dec 19, Air Selangor had to shut down two water treatment plants because of the floods. As a result, a total of 472 areas in three regions – Petaling, Kuala Lumpur and Hulu Langat – were hit by unscheduled water supply disruptions.
