Floods: Burglaries at several convenience shops in Taman Sri Muda

SHAH ALAM: Several convenience shops have been broken into within the flooded Taman Sri Muda area here.

“We have received word of several incidents, especially in the Seksyen 15 area, which have been hit hard from the floods.

“The incidents were believed to have happened today between 1pm and 2pm. We have mobilised our crime prevention teams, with assistance from the General Operations Force, to the affected areas,” said Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Baharudin Mat Taib, when contacted.

As of now, no reports have been lodged and ACP Baharudin urged those affected to make reports at their nearest police station.

“It’s difficult to get to the scene because of the water levels. The shop owners have difficulties heading there,” he said.

When asked for police estimates on the suspects involved, he said that it was “agak ramai” (quite a number).

He added that assistance in sending aid has been coming in.

“Yes, the NGOs have helped a lot as well,” he said.
