Lubok China police station underwater after flood hits town

MELAKA: The border town of Lubok China is underwater due to flash floods caused by incessant heavy rain that began on Friday(Dec 17).

The situation also caused the Lubok China police station to be submerged, halting its operation.

Melaka Fire and Rescue Department’s public relations officer Soon Wee Kiang identified the affected areas as Kg Telok Berembang Taman Wira Indah, Kg Titian Bintagor and Lubok China town.

He said several villagers were rescued on Saturday(Dec 18), including 30 children.

Soon said 20 families had been evacuated and placed at SK Telok Berembang flood relief centre.

Meanwhile, Alor Gajah police in a statement said it was the first time the police station was badly affected by the flood.

Lubok China is on the border between Negri Sembilan and Melaka.
