Govt tables motion to annul Emergency Ordinances in Dewan Rakyat on Monday (Oct 25)


KUALA LUMPUR: A motion to annul the Emergency Ordinances has been tabled in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday (Oct 25).

The motion was tabled by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

It is to debate and pass a resolution pursuant to Clause (3), Article 150 of the Federal Constitution to annul the Emergency Ordinances.

According to the Order Paper of the Dewan Rakyat, the Prime Minister will propose the annulment of the Emergency Ordinances.

This includes the Emergency (Essential Powers) Ordinance 2021, the Emergency (Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases) (Amendment) Ordinance 2021 and the Emergency (Employees Minimum Standards of Housing, Accommodation and Amenities (Amendment) Ordinance 2021.

Malaysia was placed under a state of Emergency from Jan 12 to Aug 1 to curb the spread of Covid-19.
