Covid-19: Health Ministry to lodge police report over fake news on vaccine, says Khairy

PETALING JAYA: A police report will be lodged by the Health Ministry over a Twitter account that allegedly spread fake news on the Covid-19 vaccine.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin had earlier retweeted a post from a user stating that a poster had claimed her father had died from the vaccine, where in reality, the cause of death was due to a heart disease.

"Data is wrong. My late father did not pass away from the vaccine. The data was taken from social media, no family members were asked then they assumed my father died from the vaccine. It is too much," the social media user posted.

In response, Khairy said a report will be lodged with the authorities against the original poster for spreading the fake news.

"There is a time to educate and engage. But there is also a time to enforce the law. Enough lies," he said in a tweet referencing the post on Friday (Oct 8).

The user, who originally claimed that a man died due to the Covid-19 vaccine, has since deactivated his account.
