Warisan leaders not leaving party, says Darau rep

KOTA KINABALU: Talk of 15 Parti Warisan Sabah assemblymen leaving the party to become independents supporting the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) state government is untrue, says Darau assemblyman Azhar Matussin (pic).

He said the report put up by an online portal was baseless, adding that it was meant to make Warisan's assemblymen look bad.

“We are all loyal to the party and our struggle to serve the people,” he said in a statement here.

Azhar said the 15 assemblymen said to be leaving the party – including him - strongly supported Warisan.

The Warisan supreme council member also said that claims of Sindumin assemblyman Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob’s plan to desert the party to stand as an independent representative are fake.

“The issue of Dr Yusof quitting the party as claimed by the online portal Sinar Harian does not even arise,” he said, adding party leaders recently had a meeting of which Dr Yusof attended.

“And there was no talk about Dr Yusof leaving in the meeting at all,” Azhar said.

He said party leaders were steadfast in their stand to serve the people to the best of their capabilities as Warisan members.

“I am sure all our leaders are busy helping the rakyat who have been badly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic as well as disasters that occurred of late,” he said.
