Covid-19: Govt, private events allowed as part of SOP relaxation in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: Government and private official events are now allowed as part of the relaxation of standard operating procedures (SOPs), in view of the improving Covid-19 situation in Sabah.

Minister in charge of Covid-19 matters in the state, Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (pic), said conditions are, however, set with the allowing of these face-to-face events, including workshops and seminars.

“Participants of these events must be fully vaccinated while venues can only be 50% occupied,” he said during the daily briefing on Sunday (Oct 3).

He said those who are not vaccinated due to medical conditions certified by doctors must take their Covid-19 tests prior to the programmes.

On this note, Masidi said the public can no longer depend solely on frontliners and enforcement authorities to prevent Covid-19 transmission and detect its source of spreading due to the circumstances of the virus spread within the community.

The best way, he said, was to strictly adhere to SOPs including social distancing and to support the ongoing vaccination programme.

Sabah recorded 767 new cases with 14 deaths on Oct 3.
