MDEC denies sending messages offering cash vouchers

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) denies sending messages claiming to offer cash-redeemable vouchers to companies registered under the Companies Commision of Malaysia (SSM).

“MDEC is aware of the many scam attempts including the latest message which uses MDEC’s name on social media platforms and WhatsApp messages to dupe the public.

“We reiterate that such messages are fake and shed a negative light on the ongoing business digitalisation support programmes provided by the government for businesses,” MDEC said in a statement Thursday (Sept 30).

It urged the public to stop the spread of unverified or fake news related to the matter and instead refer to its official website and social media channels to obtain accurate and updated information.
