15pc of deaths in country last year was due to heart disease, says Health DG


PUTRAJAYA (Bernama): Some 15 per cent of the 109,164 medically confirmed deaths in the country in 2019 were due to heart disease, says Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (pic).

In a statement released in conjunction with World Heart Day on Wednesday (Sept 29), he said according to the World Health Organisation (WHO), over 18.6 million deaths due to heart disease were recorded worldwide in the same year.
