Glue-sniffer ‘stuck’ atop Beaufort bridge

KOTA KINABALU: A man, high on glue, who climbed up a bridge in the Beaufort district had to be rescued after he couldn’t get down.

He was rescued by firemen who were called to the scene after road users saw him up there, about 6m above the ground, at about 10.30am on Tuesday (Sept 28).

Sabah Fire and Rescue Department officials said they received a call about the 20-year-old at 10.44am, and sent a team to rescue him.

They used a ladder to bring him down, and later handed him over to the police for further action.

According to police sources, the man was believed to have been sniffing glue to get high, before he went climbing.

He couldn’t get down on his own after that and had to wait for firemen to rescue him.

The man did not sustain any injuries following his misadventure.
