ALOR GAJAH: A robber made away with dozens of “dodol” (palm-based confection) packets, apart from snatching a gold chain of a 54-year-old woman in Kampung Air Tanai, Ayer Pa’abas here.

Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Arshad Abu said in the 11.40am incident on Monday (Sept 27), the suspect came to the victim’s house in the pretext of ordering some of the delicacies.

“The suspect, in his early 20s, then snatched the gold chain off the victim and even carted away a tray of dodol worth about RM30 before fleeing the scene in a white car,” he said.

Supt Arshad said the victim has been involved in local delicacy business for the past 30 years.

He said the victim was taken aback when the suspect suddenly grabbed her from the back before snatching her belongings.

However, Supt Arshad said the victim wasn’t injured, but was traumatised by the incident.

He said the gold chain was estimated to be worth about RM2,000 and police have launched a manhunt for the suspect.

“The victim’s report is being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code for robbery,” he added.
