Motorcyclist runs into kite string on Sprint Highway, cops looking for more information

PETALING JAYA: A motorcycle rider was injured after he ran into a kite string on the Sprint Expressway here.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the police received a report on the incident at 10.37am on Sept 6.

"Initial investigations reveal that the accident occurred at about 6.30am on Sept 2 when a 28-year-old man was riding his motorcycle from his work place at Pavilion Damansara to his house in Meru, Klang.

"On the Sprint Expressway, some 1km from the Damansara toll plaza, he was hit in the face by a kite string," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Sept 14).

ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin said the victim suffered injuries on his cheeks and lips following the accident.

"We discovered that there was no criminal element or sabotage involved, it is an accident case," he added.

He said the incident is not connected to any claims of a snatch theft attempt at the Penchala Link tunnel, which went viral on Monday (Sept 13).

"We have not received any report on any attempted snatch theft using a string or rope strung across the tunnel.

"We urge the victim involved to come forward and lodge a report," he said.
