Malaysia dominated the 2017 SEA Games with a haul of 145 gold medals.

It was the country’s best ever performance in the biennial event which was hosted by Kuala Lumpur in August of that year.

To celebrate the triumph, the government declared Sept 4, 2017 as a public holiday.

The Star published a special pullout, paying tribute to the athletes who were “heroes of Malaysia”.
