Hishammuddin to meet with three other ministers to discuss Covid-19 endemic stage SOPs on Tuesday (Sept 14)

KUALA LUMPUR: Senior Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein will meet three of his Cabinet colleagues on Tuesday (Sept 14), to discuss adjustments and relaxations to standard operating procedures as the country enters the endemic phase of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The meeting, which will be chaired by Hishammuddin - who is also Defence Minister - will involve Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz and Communication and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa.

Hishammuddin said that the meeting would be discussing the best practices for loosening SOPs, removing restrictions on interstate travel as well as kickstarting travel and tourism in the country.

"In relation to inter-state travels, certain sectors have in principle already received approval from the National Security Council but we will have to discuss it further before releasing any more information to the public.

"We are also considering broadening the travel and tourism bubble, but only after we see the results of the pilot project in Langkawi," he told a press conference at the ministry on Monday (Sept 13).

The meeting will also touch on how to prepare the country for the endemic phase, which is expected to commence at the end of October, he added.
