Driver high on drugs rams into car, kills two after driving against traffic

SHAH ALAM: A driver believed to be under the influence of drugs rammed his car into another vehicle, killing two people after he drove against the flow of traffic.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Baharudin Mat Taib said the incident occurred along the Federal Highway heading towards Klang around 2.09am on Sunday (Sept 12).

"Investigations showed that a pickup truck that was being driven by a 24-year-old man, was going against traffic before colliding with a car. The crash killed two people, an 18-year-old woman who was the driver of the car and a 19-year-old male passenger," said ACP Baharudin.

"Urine tests showed that the pickup truck driver tested positive for marijuana," he added in a statement on Sunday (Sept 12).

He added that the suspect has since been remanded for six days and the case has been classified as death due to reckless and dangerous driving.

A postmortem on the victims - who police believe are friends - will be conducted at Hospital Shah Alam.
