Covid-19: 19,733 new cases bring total to 1,900,467


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 19,733 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday (Sept 8), bringing the cumulative total to 1,900,467.

In the same 24-hour span, 22,701 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from treatment.

This brings the total Covid-19 recoveries in the country to 1,632,631.

There were 361 more Covid-19 deaths, taking the national death toll to 19,163.

Nationwide, there are 248,673 active Covid-19 cases.

Of that, 904 are in intensive care units (ICU) and 430 are on breathing support.

Sarawak has the highest number of cases out of all states, with 3,100 new infections.

Selangor is second with 2,989 cases, followed by Penang (2,474) and Sabah (2,067).

Case figures in other states are as follows: Johor (1,867), Kedah (1,564), Kelantan (1,471), Perak (1,319), Terengganu (904), Pahang (700), Kuala Lumpur (537), Melaka (375), Negri Sembilan (256), Perlis (74), Putrajaya (29) and Labuan (seven).
