Covid-19: Record high of 24,599 new cases recorded on Thursday (Aug 26)


PUTRAJAYA: The number of new Covid-19 cases in a day has hit another high with 24,599 infections on Thursday (Aug 26), says the Health Ministry.

This overtook the previous record of 23,564 cases on Aug 20.

Cumulatively, Malaysia has recorded 1,640,843 Covid-19 cases since the pandemic began.

Selangor has 6,936 new cases, the highest among all states while Sabah has the second highest (3,487), followed by Johor (2,785).

Penang recorded 2,078 cases; Sarawak (2,024); Kedah (1,538); Kelantan (1,312); Perak (1,170); Kuala Lumpur (881); Pahang (690); Terengganu (567); Negri Sembilan (526); Melaka (515); Putrajaya (20) and Labuan (three).
