PETALING JAYA: An announcement on the easing of restrictions for those who have been fully vaccinated will be made soon, says the Prime Minister.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said he chaired a National Security Council (NSC) meeting yesterday to discuss the matter, which also covered benefits for the economic sector.

“This matter needs to be looked through carefully to ensure that the government’s efforts to rehabilitate the economy and quality of life are executed smoothly and effectively.

“God willing, I will announce these benefits in the near future in the hope that it will help those who have completed their vaccinations and also assist the economic sector, while taking into consideration public safety,” he said a Facebook post.

The Prime Minister said as more people got vaccinated, this would directly lift the load off the healthcare sector and lead to more economic and social sectors being able to open safely.

The NSC meeting also discussed the National Recovery Plan, he added.

“I am happy to announce that three states (and federal territories) have shown good progress and will be moving to Phase Three effective Aug 4. These states are Perlis, Sarawak and Labuan.

“I hope that with cooperation of all parties throughout the country, more states will be able to move on to the next phase.

“We have to be optimistic and move forward so that the country’s recovery can be carried out safely and systematically,” he said.
