Covid-19: 31 localities in Sabah under EMCO from July 30, says Hisham


PUTRAJAYA: A total of 31 localities in Sabah will be placed under enhanced movement control order (EMCO) from July 30 following a spike in Covid-19 cases detected in the affected areas.

In Tuaran, 11 villages will be placed under EMCO, namely Kampung Betutai, Kampung Bolong Baru, Kampung Bontoi, Kampung Kindu, Kampung Lapasan, Kampung Serusop, Kampung Sungai Damit, Kampung Timbok, Kampung Simpangan, Taman Sri Rugading and Taman Telipok Ria.

In Sandakan, four localities will be affected – LPPB Sri Taman flats, Lorong 1 to 8 Taman Kenari, Taman Mawar and PPR Taman Murni.

Taman Suria Apartment, Kampung Mangkadatan Notoruss and Taman Penampang Phase 2 in Penampang as well as Kampung Lahat-Lahat Pulau Sebatik, Taman Perwira Ranggu and Block 5 Kampung Titingan in Tawau will be also placed under the order.

Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said two localities in Kinabatangan, namely Ladang Bukit Mas and Ladang Linbar 1, would be affected while in Tenom, the EMCO will involve Kampung Mamaitom and Kuala Tomani scheme.

“Six other localities in Sabah will also be placed under EMCO beginning Friday,” he said on Wednesday (July 28).

The areas are Kampung Merutum Phase 3, PPR Sri Keramat in Putatan, Kampung Talantang 1 in Kota Marudu, Phase 2 and 3 Country Heights, in Penampang, Kampung Ayer in Kudat and Kampung Pengalat Besar in Papar.

“The EMCO will take effect for 14 days until Aug 12. Standard operating procedures for those under the order are available at the National Security Council website,” said Hishammuddin.

Meanwhile, six Orang Asli villages at Pos Brooke, Gua Musang in Kelantan will be placed under EMCO.

The affected villages are Kampung Cekau, Kampung Jedip WCT, Kampung Seng Sang, Kampung Lojing, Kampung Sendrop and Kampung Penangau.

Two localities in Pahang will also be affected by the lockdown – Taman Amalina Lestari in Raub and Ladang Bukit Berembun in Rompin.
