Sabah cops tracking down woman who escaped through barbed wire in EMCO area

KOTA KINABALU: A woman caught on video escaping through the barbed wire at Bandaran Berjaya that is under enhanced movement control order has abandoned her room, say Sabah police.

Her rented room was found abandoned and unlocked when policemen went to check following her escape two nights ago, said acting OCPD Supt George Rakman.

“Her items inside are gone. It was unlocked as well so we think that this woman is not planning to return,” he said on Wednesday (July 14).

Police, he said, were now talking to witnesses and trying to track her down.

“We also want to find out why she left the area and whether she has financial problems or an emergency which led her to escape,” said Supt George.

He urged those with information on the woman’s whereabouts to inform authorities.

Asked if the woman had tested for Covid-19, he said: "Not yet".

On Tuesday (July 13), a TikTok video showing a woman crawling through the barbed wire had gone viral on social media.

She was seen running to another building in the 31-second video.
