SUBANG: Malaysia has received one million doses of Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine contributed by the United States for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.

The consignment was flown in by a cargo aircraft belonging to Raya Airways, which landed at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport here at 8.10am yesterday.

The aircraft left Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport on July 2.

Present at the airport were coordinating minister for the national programme Khairy Jamaluddin, who is also Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and US Ambassador to Malaysia Brian McFeeters.

Last Thursday, Malaysia received one million AstraZeneca vaccine doses from Japan.

“The United States is committed to working with the Malaysian government to support its ongoing implementation of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme to increase vaccine coverage and achieve its target for recovery,” McFeeters said during a joint press conference with Khairy yesterday.

Khairy expressed the country’s appreciation to the US government, adding that Malaysia hoped to continue working with the United States and other countries to secure access to more Covid-19 vaccines. — Bernama
