One village each in Sabah and Kelantan under EMCO from July 7-20


PUTRAJAYA: One village in Kelantan and another in Sabah will be placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) from July 7-20 following an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases.

In Kelantan, Kampung Bagus in Rantau Panjang will be placed under the order after 23 positive cases were detected from 47 screenings carried out on villagers.

Health authorities confirmed that the positivity rate at the village was high at 48.90%

Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said Kampung Baru Batu 2, Jalan Apas in Tawau, Sabah, would also be placed under EMCO.

He said to date, health authorities had detected nine cases from 14 screenings carried out.

"After a risk assessment and on the advice of the Health Ministry, we have agreed to place the two localities in Kelantan and Sabah under EMCO for 14 days until July 20," he said on Monday (July 5).

Ismail Sabri also announced that the EMCO enforced on Sungai Udang Prison in Melaka would be extended until July 20.

To date, 842 positive cases have been reported from 1,702 screenings carried out at the locality.

The EMCO on Kampung Ejuk in Kota Belud, Kampung Warisan in Kota Kinabalu, and the Balingian Power Generation workers' quarters in Mukah, Sarawak, will also be extended.
