UiTM Shah Alam PPV has so far inoculated around 6,000 people since June 21

SHAH ALAM: The UiTM Shah Alam vaccination centre has so far inoculated around 6,000 people since starting operation on June 21, says deputy vice-chancellor (academic and international) Dr Roziah Mohd Janor.

She said of the 6,000 vaccinated, about 10% consists of senior citizens.

“Our daily capacity is around 720 vaccinations and this will increase to 1,500 a day in the two week's time when we start the second dose inoculations,” she said during a press conference on Monday (June 28) at the vaccination centre.

Dr Roziah said the vaccination centre operates from 9am to 4pm and only gives out the Sinovac vaccine.

“We do not entertain walk-ins and we only follow the mySejahtera registration system,” she said, adding that at the vaccination centre, they targeted every vaccine recipient to stay between 30 to 38 minutes including the observation period.

She also said that the layout of the vaccination centre uses the integration model developed by the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry.

The model, she said, has volunteers comprising UiTM staff and students, as well as the private sector from Protect Health Sdn Bhd and Dahlia clinic.

Earlier, vaccination centre manager Dr Zaiton Nasir took members of the press for a tour around the centre.

The vaccination centre is equipped with a fast lane for those with disabilities and for the elderly. Fifty wheelchairs are also provided for those that require it.

It also has 12 vaccination rooms as well as a calm room and an emergency room.
