Sarawak extending phase one of recovery plan as state records 513 new cases


SIBU: Sarawak is extending phase one of the National Recovery Plan, as it continues to record a high number of Covid-19 cases daily.

"Considering that the number of Covid-19 cases is still high, the committee had met and agreed to extend phase one and to maintain the existing SOP," said the state disaster management committee in a statement on Sunday (June 27).

However, it has yet to reveal the duration of the extension.

Meanwhile, the state recorded three deaths and 513 new cases.

Sibu has the most cases with 89, followed by Telang Usan (70), Bintulu (68), Kuching (63), Bau (43), Sri Aman (41), Miri (24), Sarikei (22), Song (11), Asajaya (11), Samarahan (nine), Tatau Selangau and Pakan (eight each), Meradong (seven), Serian (five), four each in Subis and Kapit, Julau (three), Bukit Mabong, Mukah, Lawas, Pusa, and Betong (two each) while Tebedu, Kanowit, Kabong, Sebauh and Simunjan have one each.

"Cumulatively, the total number of cases stand at 63,824," it added.

As for the three deaths, two were reported at Miri Hospital which involved a 54-year-old woman from Subis and a 62-year-old man from Beluru.

The other death involved a 73-year-old man from Tatau who passed away at Bintulu Hospital.

The committee expressed its condolences to the deceased's families.

Separately, students who will be going overseas for their study and need vaccines, are advised to send in their applications to CITF Sarawak at citfsarawak@sarawak.gov.my.

The committee said applicants need to send in their particulars which include name, identity card number, MySejahtera ID, phone number, university name, proof of registration, university offer letter, date of when classes will commence, type of vaccine and location of district.
