PETALING JAYA (Bernama): All three brands of vaccine currently in use in Malaysia are suitable for pregnant women, says Khairy Jamaluddin.

The coordinating minister for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme also said that pregnant women are still among the priority groups to receive the Covid-19 vaccine.

He said the appointments for pregnant women is made by the system according to their registration or when they updated their profiles.

"I would like to repeat that pregnant mothers are still a high priority group for the vaccines especially based on the risk of being infected by Covid-19," he said.

The Special Committee on Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV) had on Friday (June 25) said that all Covid-19 vaccines used in Malaysia are suitable for pregnant and lactating mothers.

In its latest updated Covid-19 vaccine guidelines, JKJAV said that studies have shown that the Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Sinovac Covid-19 vaccines are suitable for these groups.

It also said that Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Sinovac are suitable for pregnant mothers between 14 and 33 weeks of pregnancy.
