KUALA LUMPUR: Action was taken against 852 individuals for violating the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) on Saturday (June 19), says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic).
The Senior Minister (Security) said that of the 852, compound notices were issued to 821 people while 31 others were remanded.
"Among the top offences were not maintaining physical distancing (172 individuals), not wearing face masks (143) and failure to record details before entering premises (129),” he said.
Ismail Sabri added in a statement on Sunday (June 20) that the compliance operation task force conducted 87,637 SOP inspections nationwide on Saturday (June 19).
On Ops Benteng, Ismail Sabri said 18 undocumented migrants were detained while nine land vehicles were seized on Saturday.
He also said that the authorities also set up 957 roadblocks nationwide.
Ismail Sabri also announced that 657 individuals arrived in Malaysia on Saturday and have been placed under mandatory quarantine.
"A total of 229,850 individuals have returned to the country since July 24 last year.
"7,458 people are still undergoing quarantine, 219,630 others have been discharged while 2,762 people have been sent to hospitals for treatment," he said.
Meanwhile, on the screening of foreign workers, Ismail Sabri said 34 foreign workers were screened on Saturday with no positive cases.
"Cumulatively, 699,281 foreign workers have been screened involving 36,286 employers. 10,354 of the workers tested positive while the remaining were negative," he added.
