Zahid expresses condolences over the passing of Ling Liong Sik


PETALING JAYA: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi expressed his deepest condolences following the passing of former MCA president Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik on Saturday (April 4).

In a statement shared on social media, Ahmad Zahid conveyed his sympathies to the family of the former transport minister, describing Tun Ling’s passing as a great loss to the nation.

He said the late Tun Ling would be remembered as a dedicated leader who contributed significantly to the development of the country’s transport sector and the strengthening of educational institutions that continue to benefit the present generation.

Ahmad Zahid also said that throughout his leadership, Tun Ling demonstrated strong commitment and deep love for the country and his party, particularly during his years in Barisan Nasional.

He added that Tun Ling’s services and contributions would be recorded in the nation’s history and remembered by Malaysians for years to come.

“His services and contributions will remain recorded in the pages of history and remembered by all Malaysians,” he said.

Ahmad Zahid also prayed that Tun Ling’s family be given strength and perseverance during this difficult time, adding that the nation mourned alongside them.

Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik passed away peacefully on Saturday (April 4) at the age of 82.

Born in Kuala Kangsar, Perak, he served as Transport Minister from 1986 to 2003.

Prior to that, he held several deputy ministerial posts, including Deputy Information Minister, Deputy Finance Ministry and Deputy Education Ministry.
