Couple arrested, RM9mil in drugs seized


KUALA LUMPUR: A couple, active in drug distribution around the Klang Valley, has been arrested which also saw a seizure worth over RM9mil.

City police chief Comm Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim said the arrests came following a raid at a house in Cheras on June 5.

“Three people were arrested including the husband and wife. Following the arrests, three follow-up operations were conducted in Cheras and Kajang on June 5 and June 6.

“The raids led to the discovery of around 98.35kg of heroin base, 9.87kg of ketamine and 59, 000 Erimin 5 pills, ” he told a press conference on Friday (June 11).

Comm Azmi said the estimated value of the drugs was around RM9, 345, 903.

Five vehicles were also seized during the raids.

“Investigations showed all four rented premises were used to store drugs for about three months.

“We believe the syndicate was active for the past four months," he said, adding that background checks showed all three suspects had prior records for drug-related offences.

It is believed the racket was active in processing and distributing the drugs for the Klang Valley market.
