Covid-19: Sarawak record 631 new cases and four fatalities on Thursday (June 10)

KUCHING: Sarawak reported 631 new Covid-19 cases and four fatalities on Thursday (June 10), taking the state's cumulative tally to 53, 631 with a death toll of 334.

Kuching and Miri had the most cases with 105 and 102 respectively, the state disaster management committee said in a statement.

It said 24 more districts recorded between one and 71 cases each.

The latest fatalities included a 63-year-old woman who was brought in dead to Sri Aman Hospital, as well as two women aged 63 and 70 years and a 67-year-old man.

The committee also said there were two new community clusters resulting from social interaction and close contacts in longhouses.

The Bali Pie cluster involved two longhouses at Sungai Bakas, Subis, which had been placed under the enhanced movement control order.

To date, 62 people have tested positive for Covid-19 out of 243 individuals screened.

In Tatau, the Jalan Samarakan cluster at another longhouse that had been placed under the EMCO currently has 49 confirmed cases from 79 individuals screened.

The committee said the Sungai Tengah cluster in Bau had ended, leaving 77 active clusters in the state.

On vaccination, the committee said 7, 059 individuals were given their first dose and 3, 796 their second dose on June 9.

As of June 9, a cumulative total of 261, 802 people or 9% of Sarawak's population had received the first dose and 129, 446 people (4.5% of the population) had completed both doses.
