PETALING JAYA: Pharmaniaga Bhd has already produced 2.5 million "fill and finish" Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine doses as of May 31, says its group managing director Datuk Zulkarnain Md Eusope.
Of the total, Zulkarnain said 1.2 million doses have already received Lot Release approval from the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA).
“At the moment we have already delivered 1.2 million filled and finished doses of which 750,000 doses have been distributed and 490,000 doses (including additional daily releases) are ready to be distributed by the Health Ministry.
“A further 1.3 million doses are still in the process of getting the potency test done and Lot Release approval obtained, ” he said when contacted on Friday (June 4).
Zulkarnain noted that Pharmaniaga only delivers vaccines to the Health Ministry and no other party.
The ministry will then send the vaccines around the country under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.
The first batch of Sinovac vaccine totalling 200 litres, to be processed into 300,000 doses, arrived in Malaysia on Feb 27.
On May 26, Zulkarnain had said that for May alone, the finished vaccine from China and the filled and finished vaccine reached a total of more than 3.6 million doses.
Zulkarnain had also added that Pharmaniaga planned to import 10 million doses of Sinovac Covid-19 finished vaccine from China.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has recently also approved the vaccine for emergency use.
