HE is merely 10 years old but Muhammad Shameer Farriez Amir Nizam is shouldering responsibilities beyond his age by caring for his mother who suffers from health issues.
Due to a debilitating health condition affecting the mother’s nerves, the Year Four pupil from SK Seberang Ramai, Kangar, Perlis, has to assist his wheelchair-bound mother, Juraimie Ramli, 42, with her daily needs.
Every morning he prepares his mother’s breakfast and tidies up before school.
Juraimie told Harian Metro that he also helps with household chores during weekends.
Despite his responsibilities, Muhammad Shameer does not regard caring for her as a burden.
The youngster who dreams of becoming a singer also supplements the household income by selling ice cream.
He said his biggest wish is simply for his mother to be healthy and for their family to have enough sustenance.
Juraimie said she understood that her son was still a child and in order for him to enjoy his childhood, she tries to reward him with things he desires such as sports accessories and toys when she can spare the cash.
She said she earns between RM200 and RM300 a month by packing goods for an online sellers.
