DBKL: Premises that exclusively sell liquor cannot operate during lockdown

KUALA LUMPUR: Premises that exclusively sell liquor in the city are not allowed to operate during the lockdown, says Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

However, it said the sale of alcohol is still allowed in supermarkets and sundry shops.

DBKL also said that food premises were allowed to operate from 8am to 8pm for takeaways only.

“This includes grocery stores and convenience shops, ” it said in a statement on Friday (June 4).

Earlier in the day, there was confusion as to whether or not the sale of liquor at all premises was banned as pictures of closed-off alcohol sections in shops went viral on social media.

This was fuelled by a police raid on a store in Brickfields, with police saying it violated the operating permit as it was only selling liquor and not food and beverages as stated.
