KLANG: A five-year-old girl suffered severe injuries when a four-wheel drive accidentally hit her on Wednesday (May 26).
South Klang district police chief Asst Comm Shamsul Amar Ramli said the incident occurred at Kampung Delek Kanan near here and the girl's injuries caused bleeding in her intestines and spleen.
He added that the child has been transferred from the Klang Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
ACP Shamsul Amar said in a statement on Friday (May 28) that the incident occurred at about 5.45pm when a 21-year-old woman driving the vehicle was on her way home from work in Kampung Delek en route to Sungai Udang.
He said the woman stepped on the brakes but could not avoid the child, who was reportedly crossing the road.
ACP Shamsul Amar said the driver of the car has since lodged a police report.
“The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said.
