Tawau area under EMCO from May 25-June 7

KUALA LUMPUR: Taman Abaka, Ladang Table in Tawau, Sabah will be placed under the enhanced movement control order from Tuesday (May 25).

Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said 37 positive cases were recorded from 135 screenings conducted by the Health Ministry.

"The ministry also found a drastic rise in cases in a short period of time as well as a high infectivity rate.

"After a risk assessment, the government agreed to place the locality under the enhanced MCO from May 25 to Jun 7," he said in a statement Sunday (May 23).

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said the enhanced MCO at Kampung Keramat, Semporna, Sabah will end as scheduled on Monday (May 24).

"The Health Ministry conducted 138 screenings and 19 individuals tested positive.

"It also confirmed a decreasing trend in cases, ” he said, adding that the government agreed to end the enhanced MCO on Monday.
