Dev Kumar appointed as acting CID director


KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Comm Datuk Dev Kumar MM Sree has been appointed as acting Bukit Aman CID director.

He takes over from Comm Datuk Huzir Mohamed, who is retiring on Thursday (May 20).

In a statement on Wednesday (May 19), Bukit Aman said Comm Huzir joined the police force on Dec 27,1982.

Among the posts that he has held were Shah Alam CID chief, Negri Sembilan deputy CID chief, Negri Sembilan CID chief, Sarawak CID chief, Bukit Aman CID principal assistant director (D9), Special Task Force on Organised Crime (STAFOC) commander and Bukit Aman deputy CID director.

Comm Huzir was a Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) rugby player, who also represented the national team from 1981 to 1986. Among the competitions that he took part in were Asia Rugby Tournament in Fukuoka, Japan, as well as the World police and Fire Games in Melbourne, Australia and Calgary.

Comm Huzir was also part of United Nations peacekeeping missions in Cambodia in 1982 and Kosovo in 1999.

Among his successes and achievements in the police force, especially as CID, were solving the disappearance of Deputy Public Prosecutor Kevin Morais in 2015, nabbing those involved in the fatal shooting of a woman with the title Datin on June 7,2016, arresting 57 members of "Gang 360 Devan" in 2013, as well as various Ops Cantas Khas in Perak, Johor and Negri Sembilan, which led to the arrests of various members of the underworld.
