MCO violation: 475 nabbed on Monday (May 10), says Ismail Sabri

PUTRAJAYA: Police have arrested 475 individuals for various standard operating procedure violations, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The Senior Minister (Security) said that among the offences committed were failure to register details when entering premises (223), not wearing face masks (115), no social distancing (63) and other offences (74).

"Of those nabbed on May 10,454 individuals were slapped with compounds while the remaining 21 were remanded," he said on Tuesday (May 11).

He said the task force monitoring standard operating procedure compliance checked 78,305 premises on Monday, including supermarkets, restaurants, factories, banks, government offices and hawkers.

"Also checked were wet markets/pasar tani, places of worship, recreational places and sea transport terminals," he said.

On Ops Benteng, Ismail Sabri said enforcement authorities nabbed 56 undocumented migrants on Sunday (May 9) and seized eight land vehicles.

"Authorities also sighted the presence of 138 vessels in Malaysian waters during eight sighting activities carried out on May 10," he said.

Ismail Sabri said that 560 individuals had returned to Malaysia on Monday and all were sent to undergo quarantine at government-designated stations.

Since July 24 last year, a total of 201,400 individuals had returned to the country and were quarantined at 78 hotels and nine training institutes.

The Senior Minister said the government had announced recently that those under home surveillance order due to close contact with a Covid-19 positive individual will be made to use monitoring devices for tracking purposes.
