KUALA LUMPUR: Failure to record personal details prior to entering a premises tops the list of Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP) violations on Saturday (May 8), says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic).
The Senior Minister (Security) said 480 individuals were compounded while 13 others were remanded for not adhering to the SOP.
"Not recording details was the top offence with 214 people penalised.
"Other offences were not wearing face masks involving 84 people, not maintaining physical distancing (52) and activities at entertainment outlets (16)," he said in a statement on Sunday (May 9).
While frontliners are working hard to save Covid-19 patients, there are still those who are ignorant of the SOP, Ismail Sabri said.
"Lately, failure to record details are becoming more prevalent compared to other SOP breaches.
"This showed that there are still those who are not taking the threat of the virus seriously.
"Failure to adhere to the SOP will not only burden the authorities to track down certain cases but will also negatively impact others.
"Adhering to the SOP is of utmost importance, thus we hope for the cooperation of the public in preventing the spread of the virus," he added.
On Ops Benteng, Ismail Sabri said 47 undocumented migrants were detained while five land vehicles were seized on Saturday.
"Authorities also conducted 284 roadblocks nationwide," he added.
Meanwhile on another matter, Ismail Sabri said 1,020 individuals arrived in Malaysia on Saturday and placed under mandatory quarantine.
"Cumulatively, 199,322 individuals returned to Malaysia since July 24 last year.
"7,530 of them are still undergoing quarantine while 189,908 others have been discharged and 1,884 individuals were sent to hospitals for treatments," he said.
