PETALING JAYA: The whole district of Raub in Pahang has been placed under conditional movement control order from today until May 13 due to a surge in Covid-19 cases, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The Senior Minister said adjoining sub districts of Mukim Tras and Mukim Gali also saw an increase in cases and would be placed under MCO for the same duration.

“There has also been a spike in cases in a few areas in Raub over the past nine days with 83 positive cases.

“The Health Ministry has confirmed that Raub Jaya cluster has expanded due to social activities and detected among students in schools in Mukim Gali (Bandar Raub, Sungai Ruan and Kampung Baru Sempalit) and Mukim Tras (Kampung Sang Lee, Kampung Baru Tras and Kampung Sungai Chetang).

“Based on the risk assessment, we have decided to place the whole of Raub district under conditional MCO and Mukim Gali and Mukim Tras under MCO.

“This will allow us to control the movement of the people there to prevent the spread of infections, ” he said.

Ismail Sabri said the government would also enforce enhanced MCO for two weeks at Taman Seri Desa, Kuala Krau, Temerloh (Pahang) and SMK Melugu, Sri Aman (Sarawak) due to a sudden surge in cases there.

The enhanced MCO was extended after an increasing number of infections at SMU (A) Tarbiah Diniah Tahfiz Bunut Sarang Burung, Tumpat and Kolej Tahfiz Sains Nurul Aman, Kok Lanas, Kota Baru (both in Kelantan).

Ismail Sabri said the enhanced MCO would end today in Taman Tawau Lama and Kampung Batu (Sabah), Kampung Baru Pasir Putih, Tawau (Sabah), Sungai Passin, Matu, Mukah (Sarawak), Kampung Simpang 3A, Merotai Besar (Sabah), Pulapol Kuching and staff quarters (Sarawak) and Sekolah Henry Gurney, Telok Mas (Melaka).
