PUTRAJAYA: Police arrested 420 individuals for various standard operating procedure (SOP) violations on Thursday (April 29), says Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic).
He said among the offences reported were failure to register details when entering premises (162), not wearing face masks (42), and not observing social distancing (188).
Of those arrested, 417 were slapped with compounds while the remaining three were remanded, he said in his daily announcement on Friday (April 30).
The task force monitoring SOP compliance also carried out 66,291 checks on Thursday, including 4,709 supermarkets, 5,265 restaurants, 1,779 factories, 3,812 banks, 1,123 government offices and 4,694 hawkers.
During the ongoing Ops Benteng, authorities arrested nine illegal immigrants and seized four vehicles.
“Authorities also detected the presence of 170 vessels in Malaysian waters during sighting activities, ” he said.
The minister also said 1,013 individuals had arrived at international entry points on Thursday and were all sent to quarantine stations.
Cumulatively since July 24, a total of 180,524 individuals who returned were sent to hotels and other facilities to be quarantined, he added.
