SUBANG JAYA: A cook died after his roommate, who was a former colleague, allegedly attacked him at home with two others as they accused him of workplace bullying.
The incident came to light when the 20-year-old victim failed to contact his aunt after work on Sunday (April 18).
"He would call her every night but he didn't that day, causing his aunt to get worried," said Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Abd Khalid Othman.
"His boss too confirmed that he had not reported for work that day," ACP Abd Khalid told a press conference at the district police headquarters here on Tuesday (April 20).
He said after checking his apartment in Jalan Kemajuan here, the police found traces of blood at the toilet.
"CCTV footage shows three men entering the flat at midnight, and later leaving with a heavy-looking black plastic bag," he said.
Follow-up investigations led to the discovery of the victim's personal belongings, the alleged murder weapons and the plastic bag which contained the victim's body.
They were found about 1.5km away from the murder scene.
"We believe the victim had been attacked with a cable before being pushed into the toilet where he was fatally stabbed," ACP Abd Khalid said.
Four men were arrested on Monday (April 19). Among them was the former roommate and main suspect, who was detained in Port Dickson.
"A suspect told the police during interrogation that the motive behind the murder was due to the victim bullying one of them at work," he said.
Two of the suspects were brought in under the assumption that they were there to rob the flat.
"However, we believe that the main suspect, who was the victim's roommate and former colleague, had already intended to murder the victim," he added.
Three of the suspects who are directly involved in the murder have been remanded for seven days.
The fourth, who was not at the scene but knew of the incident, has been remanded until April 23.
