KUALA LUMPUR: The employer who was detained for allegedly assaulting his two bodyguards as they were fasting will be handed over to South Klang police after his remand expires on Saturday (April 17).

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said the investigation into the assault has been completed.

"We will recommend that the suspect is charged under Section 323 and Section 298A of the Penal Code.

"We will refer the investigation paper to the Deputy Public Prosecutor soon," he said when contacted on Friday (April 16).

ACP Mohamad Zainal said the suspect's remand will end on Saturday but he is also being investigated by South Klang police for a different matter.

"We will hand him over to South Klang police in connection with cases there," he added.

Following the alleged assault on the bodyguards, it emerged that the employer could be linked to illegal gambling and loan shark activities.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed had said police also seized RM28.54mil worth of gold bars and cash in foreign denominations following a raid in Bukit Tinggi on Wednesday (April 14).

"We seized several items including mobile phones, a pistol as well as five bullets and a cane," he said.

Comm Arjunaidi urged the public to remain calm as the issue of the bodyguards being assaulted for fasting has been dealt with.

"It is more of a personal matter between those involved and it is an isolated matter," he added.

On Wednesday, police received a report on the employer, who was allegedly upset that his two bodyguards were fasting during Ramadan.

The complainant, a 26-year-old bodyguard, told the police that the incident occurred at a condominium in Jalan Pinang.

He claimed that he and a colleague were slapped after telling the suspect they were fasting when he asked them.

The complainant added that they then followed the suspect to his house in Batu Nilam, Klang, where they were beaten with a cane.

A gun was also allegedly pointed at one of the bodyguards.
