Covid-19: 139 new cases, one death in Sabah


KOTA KINABALU: Two Covid-19 clusters and 139 new cases with one death were recorded in Sabah on Friday (April 9).

The two new clusters are the Sim-Sim cluster (14 new cases) and Batu Lima Jalan Sibuga cluster with a new case, both in Sandakan.

Minister in charge of Covid-19 matters in Sabah, Datuk Masidi Manjun said for the Sim-Sim cluster, which has a total of 15 cases, the index case is a patient who was believed to have attended a birthday party on April 3.

“As for the Jalan Sibuga cluster, which has a total of eight cases, the index case is from a hostel of a public higher learning institution, ” he said during his daily Covid-19 briefing.

Meanwhile, four localities - Kg Gayang in Tuaran, Institut Latihan Perindustrian, Taman Permata as well as Taman Seri Labuk in Sandakan will be placed under the enhanced movement control order from April 10-23.
